Background:
Nebu-Flow® is developing a new category of nebulisers. Following successful delivery of our prototype, we are opening new positions to accelerate our product development activities.
Nebu-Flow® has recently secured more than £5m of funding to develop our product and currently looking to hire a junior engineer with hands-on attitude to work within the team for development of medical devices.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in engineering or physics, with a minimum qualification of a BSc. Previous experience working in a laboratory setting is highly desirable, particularly in wet laboratory environments, such as those found in analytical chemistry, experimental physics, or engineering.
As a Junior Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting experimental work involving various drug formulations and generating reproducible data using aerosol characterisation equipment. Proficiency in hands-on mechanical workshop skills is highly desirable for this role
You should possess the ability to quickly learn and understand the technical and scientific requirements of the projects you’ll be working on and propose effective solutions to meet these needs. A preference will be given to candidates who thrive on achieving challenging technical goals within tight deadlines while maintaining a meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will also be expected to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop a nebuliser device.
Your remit will include:
- Perform laboratory experiments involving pipetting, handling liquid formulation and analysis of solutions.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including Next Generation Impactor (NGI) and laser diffraction to generate reproducible data.
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments related to drug delivery systems.
- Accurately record, analyse, and interpret experimental data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and researchers, to advance product development.
- Contribute to the development and testing of nebulisation technologies, with a focus on optimising drug delivery systems.
- Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Present findings in weekly meetings and contribute to scientific publications.
- Apply CAD modelling techniques in the design and analysis of experimental setups (desirable).
Skills
Technical:
- BSc/BEng in Engineering, Physics or a related field.
- 1+ years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in drug delivery, medical devices, or similar fields. Exceptional candidates with less experience may also be considered
- Hands-on experience with wet laboratory techniques such as pipetting and calibration
- Experience working within a mechanical workshop
- Strong understanding of experimental design and data analysis
- Experienced in generating reproducible data using the Next Generation Impactor (NGI) and laser diffraction system (desirable)
Software:
- Microsoft office package including Word and Excel
- Experience of handling large dataset
- Experience of preparation of data and presentation in a concise and representable manner
- 3D CAD skills, able to generate 3D Models of devices (Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor or similar) is desirable
- Experience of simulation is desirable
- Experience with programming is desirable
